PhD Position in Federated Unlearning for Industrial IoT

About the University

Job Overview

This fully funded 3-year PhD position (extendable to 4 years) centers on creating a framework for federated unlearning in Industrial IoT (IIoT) systems. The research will tackle key challenges in data privacy, compliance, and adaptive intelligence to support Industry 5.0. Using federated learning and unlearning strategies, the project aims to optimize resource usage for secure and intelligent IIoT ecosystems.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research in federated unlearning and related areas.
  • Publish findings in high-impact journals and present at international conferences.
  • Participate in outreach activities to inspire interest in machine learning and AI.
  • Collaborate with an expert team led by Prof. Symeon Chatzinotas, Dr. Ons Aouedi, and Dr. Konstantinos Ntontin.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualifications: MSc in Telecommunications or Computer Science.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of Machine Learning, especially Federated Learning.
    • Proficient in Python and programming.
    • Background in wireless communications and optimization techniques (preferred).
    • Experience in data-driven projects and prior research publications (advantageous).
  • Language: Excellent English communication skills.
  • Personal Traits: Curiosity-driven with a passion for learning.
